This documentary, honored with the Mecenat Award for Best Asian Documentary at the 2024 Busan International Film Festival, marks a meaningful collaboration between GONG Studio and director Sin-Ho-Yang. We are proud to have contributed our VFX expertise to this cross-generational and era-spanning documentary.

Set on the southern island of Cheung Chau in Hong Kong, the film centers around a humble grocery stall named "Yat Tai Snack". More than just capturing the warmth of a small fishing village, the film delves into the sweeping societal changes brought on by political unrest and the pandemic — offering a poignant glimpse into Hong Kong’s evolving reality.

GONG’s visual effects work subtly weaves into the narrative through screen compositing and interface design, including TV broadcasts, protest footage, and digital UI elements. Our goal was to immerse the viewer in a blend of personal stories and historical events without distraction — crafting screen visuals that feel natural and emotionally resonant, even when barely noticed.

Through thoughtful visual details, we hope to add a deeper layer of memory to this seaside store’s journey through time.

位於香港南邊的離島長洲海邊，有家名為「#日泰小食」的雜貨攤，這部紀錄片不是只有濃濃人情味與小漁村生活，更在社會動盪與疫情衝擊下，紀錄下屬於香港的真實轉變。

 

而罡風這次也在裡頭低調現身視效製作，聚焦於螢幕合成視效，巧妙結合包括電視轉播、社運新聞畫面、介面設計...等，讓觀眾沉浸於角色生活與歷史事件交錯的現場感。從真實素材出發，設計出那些你可能根本沒注意到、卻又關鍵的資訊介面與螢幕內容，低調卻不失情感張力，讓觀眾無痛進入故事氛圍。
